Slow Clay / 9 Trory Street (8 weeks)

Wednesday morning / January 10th - March 6th / 10am-1pm

£275 Materials and firing included

A chance to listen and respond to clay during an 8-week course that focuses on hand building, material knowledge and slowing down. Starting small, we will build maquettes from which to scale up, working towards a form resembling a large Korean moon jar. We will keep initial clay sketches to work from and conclude the course with a selective reclaiming of works.

Alongside making we will also explore the production and maintenance of materials, such as slips and glazes. You will be taught about clay recycling and practice a variety of wedging techniques. This will help to provide a more intimate experience with the material and offers a rare chance to participate in the running of a ceramics studio.

This course is suitable for anyone wanting to slow down and gain a better understanding of clay.
